About Henry

You had the highlights on the home page, but since you're here, there's more!

Henry grew up in London and studied Philosophy and then Software Engineering Management at Durham University.

He started honing elite performance early as a member of the Great Britain rowing team and was European University Champion.

He was also a keen musician and was a finalist at the EPTA National Piano competition where he performed Beethoven's Appassionata.

After a chance meeting at a careers fair he joined the Royal Navy as a Weapon Engineer and soon voluntered for the Submarine Service.

He earned his "dolphins" on the nuclear deterrent submarine HMS Vanguard and then served on the attack submarine HMS Astute, including her maiden deployment to the middle east.

He subsequently worked on procuring and designing navigation and combat systems for submarines, and worked in the Ministry of Defence in Whitehall as an Underwater Weapons Analyst.

On leaving the Royal Navy, Henry was hired by Google to Program Manage the Android Security team in London and manage the design, development and deployment of critical features to more than 3 billion users.

As well as his day job, Henry was also appointed lead of the Google Veterans Network in EMEA. In 2024 he was named Young Leader of the Year at the Ex-Forces in Business awards, the world's largest celebration of veterans in second careers. He has also won a number of internal awards at Google including the Global Culture Impact award.

Recognising that his core techniques could be useful to others, he started teaching the Submariner Mindset.

Henry also plays in a successful function band (The Shimmer Tones), is an occasional freelance videographer and enjoys running and cycling.
